As we turn our attention and spiritual focus to the Holy month of Ramadhan, none of us can ignore these are unprecedented and challenging times. In a relatively short space of time our whole way of life has been transformed. We are all feeling the health threat for ourselves and the community and the Deeny impact that Covid-19 is having across the globe.
We are instructed to self-isolate and shield the most vulnerable to reduce the threat of infection. As a consequence we unable to meet with family and friends, unable to pay respect and attend funerals of our brothers and sisters who have left this world and unable to hold congregational gatherings, for one simple reason that anybody can transmit the disease and everyone needs to act responsibly, but Insha Allah we will recover.
Most of you are aware the Al-Ihsan Trust is fund raising for a new Masjid in the grounds of Al-Hikmah Centre, Track Road, Batley, West Yorkshire. Since last Ramadhan thanks to the grace of Allah-Tala, your Duas and generosity considerable progress has been achieved and sufficient funds raised to secure the land from the Indian Muslim Welfare Society (IMWS). The list below tracks progress against the key phases of the project:
We are now embarking on the most critical stages of constructing the Masjid and the services it will deliver for the community, including for women and girls. Phase 4 requires an enormous amount of work and resources that will inevitably take time and only proceed as fast as funds allow. We are therefore in desperate need for your continued patience, support, financial contributions and above all Duas.
Moulana Suleman Ismail Makda DB in hearing about the progress made, provided the following message:
“Alhamdulillah so pleased of progress achieved by Al-Ihsan Trust and the community at large towards this most noble of endeavours. Contributing towards the building of a Masjid is one of the best forms of charity. The first thing that our beloved Prophet peace be upon him, did after migrating to Madina Munawara was to build a Masjid. The Prophet peace be upon him, said that whoever builds a Masjid for the sake of Allah-Tala, he will build for them a house in paradise.
Imagine what a Muslim neighbourhood would look like if it did not have a Masjid? Muslims would not have a place to worship to Allah-Tala five times a day. Establishing Namaz prayers is the second most important pillar of our faith. The Masjid is at the heart of every Muslim community: it provides a safe place and an environment for the worshippers to pray and contemplate; it is the hub of Islamic education for the whole community and especially the children to learn and helps Muslims learn about the Islamic way of life and nurture their moral and spiritual nourishment. Masjids can attract non-Muslims to Islam and give the local community the opportunity to showcase Islamic culture, values and improve inter faith understanding. May Allah-Tala connect us all with this project as on the day of judgement one of the people who will be under the shade of Allah-Tala’s throne will be the one whose heart is attached to the Masjid, Ameen”.
