About Us
Assalamualaikum Warahmatullahi Wabarakatuh
The Al-Ihsan Trust was established in 2014 by local residents within the Track Road / Thorncliffe Road / Staincliffe areas of Batley, UK, with the aim of establishing a purpose built Masjid opposite the Al-Hikmah Centre.
In 2015, the committee was successful in negotiating the purchase of a site within the grounds of the Al-Hikmah Centre to build this Masjid on, and we also registered ourselves as a charitable incorporated organisation (CIO).
During 2016/2017, we consulted a number of different architects for their initial advice and quotations for the planning and design of the Masjid project. We commissioned a well known experienced architect for the initial design layout and outline planning application, which was then submitted to Kirklees council for approval.
In late 2018 our planning application was finally approved by the council, subject to a section 106 agreement.
Alhamdulillah by the end of 2020, we had gathered the funds and completed the purchase and transfer of the land from IMWS to the Al-Ihsan Trust, on which the Masjid will be built upon.
In 2021, a porta cabin was installed on the site of the proposed new masjid to commence prayer with jamaat, and in 2022 an additional cabin was also installed and connected to the first one to increase the capacity due to the popularity of performing prayers on site.
From the start of 2023, ground works finally commenced on site starting with the demolition of the old cottage building to make way for the new masjid. This was later followed by clearing the site, digging the foundations, and building a retaining wall within the foundations.
Throughout February 2024, the steel to construct the frame of the new Masjid was delivered and assembled on site within a space of a few weeks. The next planned phase of the project is to install the concrete floors and the drainage system.
We are now in a position to continue gathering funds for the construction / building of the Masjid. We pray that Almighty Allah helps us in achieving our goals of building another Masjid in the local area.
